Montauk Travel Diary

You guys already know how much I love a cute little quaint town — especially when there’s a beach nearby. Honestly, it doesn’t get much better than that. I’ve also talked about how much I love traveling to a destination right before their high season starts, because it’s so much quieter and you feel like you have the whole town to yourself. A few weeks ago I went to Montauk, or “The End,” as it is fittingly nicknamed, because it is located at the tip of Long Island — the last town of the Hamptons. I have been meaning to head out to Montauk since last spring, but never seemed to make the 3-hour trip from Manhattan. This beachside beauty was not disappointing, in fact, it was one of the most charming places I have traveled to recently.

So, today I wanted to share my travel diary/guide to the area, and give you a few of the best places to eat, play, shop, and stay. So, without further ado, here is my Montauk Travel Diary…

{pin this to your travel pinterest board for future trips!}

First thing’s first: you absolutely need to stay at Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa if you visit Montauk — no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I truly could have never left the resort and been perfectly happy with my trip. There are plenty of options to eat right on-site, in addition to a little coffee shop that had the nicest barista each day I was there… Seriously, she was the best. Also, if you’ve ever seen those classic yellow and white striped umbrellas from The Hamptons on Instagram, this is where they’re from — they are to-die for!

Aside from Gurney’s, another one of the highlights of my trip was Deep Hollow Ranch. I fell in love with all the horses as they were relaxing in their big grassy meadow — they were so, so cute. As we pulled up the car, one even walked right over to us, right up to the fence. It was like he/she was greeting us! I don’t think I’ll ever forget that moment.

Overall, Montauk was the perfect seaside escape. Especially if you’re located in New York City, it’s so great to head out here (you can take the Hampton Jitney for cheap!) for a long relaxing weekend. (Or, if you live in Connecticut or nearby, it’s easy to take the ferry over!) Here are a few more of my favorite photos from my trip…

Have you ever been to Montauk? What are your recommendations for the town? I would love for you to leave them in the comments!
