As soon as I get any ounce of warm weather or start to see some sunshine, I am more than ready for beach days. And, without a doubt one of my favorite things about the beach is the natural, effortless waves it gives your hair. However, as effortless as they are when they come from Mother Nature, they are not quite so easy to recreate them when you’re at home.
After lots of trial and error, I have finally found the perfect combination for a DIY wave spray which will help you recreate the same waves without even stepping foot in the sand. The key ingredient is sea salt (no surprise there), and when you combine it with just a few other ingredients — that you probably already have in your kitchen cabinets — you can master the art of the beach wave at home. So, without further ado, here is my sea salt spray recipe, for the perfect spring and summer hairstyle.

- An empty spray bottle
- 1 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- A few drops of essential oil for scent (I used coconut for a beachy/summery vibe)

(it’s really, really easy)
- All you have to do is combine all ingredients in your spray bottle and give it a shake to mix them together.
- Shake before using, to mix together the oils and water, since they’ll separate a bit. Spritz onto hair and give your locks a little scrunch as you go. Be careful not to use too much, as the sea salt can make your hair a little crunchy feeling. I prefer to use it on my hair when it’s dry and already has a little curl to it — this adds some texture and a messy, beachy look. If you prefer to use it on damp hair, you can do that as well.
