Fall/Winter Try-On Haul

One type of video I never really get to make is try-on hauls. I really don’t shop all that much, and when I do it’s not usually a lot of things at once. I pick up one or two items here and there, so I never really have enough to make a try-on haul.

I recently picked up a few items, and when I received all the packages I figured it was the perfect time to film one and show you what I got! I hope you enjoy 🙂 Let me know if you would like to see more style content or more hauls; I’d love your feedback. I hope you enjoy! x

Prep School

When I was home for the long weekend last weekend, one of the stops I made was at Syracuse University. I always loved my campus during the fall-time — the trees turning bright reds and oranges, along with the ivy-covered buildings. It really is one of the prettiest campuses I’ve ever been on. I had stopped on campus to listen to a guest speaker that was there, and even though it was a little early for the leaves to be changing, there were a few spots that were just coming into their peak.

Lately I have been wearing this skirt non-stop (see another way that I styled it here!). I love the way it fits, and the navy color compliments so many of my tops for fall. I recently picked up this top while I was shopping, and am so glad I did. I was on the fence, but once I tried it on I was so happy I decided to purchase it. The color is so perfect for this time of year, as it looks just like the changing leaves on the trees. Pair it with a long gold necklace and cute ankle booties, and you’ve got yourself the perfect look for fall.

Pumpkin Patch

I’ve been checking off my fall bucket list one weekend at a time, and this past one was no different. I was home for the long weekend and, of course, had to go pumpkin picking. My parents have been decorating the front of our house with pumpkins, mums, and other fall decorations, so we went to grab a few more pumpkins to put out there…

sweater // jeans (my favorite pair and on sale for $35!) // scarf // boots (old, similar here)

For casual fall days, I have a pretty easy outfit combo that I typically wear: an oversized sweater with a blanket scarf, comfy jeans, and a pair of easy riding boots. This day was no different!

I have been wearing this sweater non-stop lately. You can’t see it in these pictures since the scarf covers it up, but it actually has a really deep v-neck which I love. I love pairing it with an eyelash lace bralette that shows a little — it’s cute and chic but still looks comfy and cozy at the same time.

The blanket scarf goes without saying — I’m never getting over these! They are too warm and cozy, and perfect for the colder months. They also make almost every outfit look better, adding fun colors and a bright print.

Apple Picking

Mid-September is when it finally starts to feel like fall, and the first fall activity I always do is go apple picking. We have so many amazing orchards in upstate New York, so when I came home last weekend, visiting my favorite one was the first thing on my to-do list.

My family and I have been coming to this orchard every single year for as long as I can remember, and it is always what I look forward to the most come September. This orchard is rated the number one in the country (and for good reason!). Not only do they have the best orchard and apples, but they also have a distillery where they make hard apple cider and offer tastings in one of the barns. Rosé hard apple cider? Um, yes please! They also have the usual suspects: apple fritters, apple cider, and the like. So much fun!

This was my first opportunity to really wear a fall-appropriate outfit (it has been very hot lately!), so I broke out a few of the pieces that I have been most excited to wear… I’ve been waiting (not so) patiently to finally pull them out of my closet, so I did the first chance I got!

I purchased this top a few weeks ago and absolutely love it! I love this shade of red and the lace-up look it has, which is a trend that has carried over into the new season. This navy skirt is another piece that I recently bought, and I’ve already worn it to my internship a few times. It’s a denim-like material and I love the a-line cut. If you purchase this, though, definitely go a size down!

Lastly… These boots! I am obsessed with over-the-knee boots and when I was doing my fall shopping at the end of summer, I knew I needed to add a few more pairs into my wardrobe. These grey faux suede ones were just was I was looking for! They will be perfect come wintertime, too, which is a plus.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials | Splurge or Save

With fall right around the corner, I have been searching high and low for a few fall wardrobe essentials: a new pair of over-the-knee boots, some little booties, oversized scarves, and some cozy cardigans.

Today I wanted to share a few of my favorite pieces that I have found to help you with your own fall shopping, but I wanted to do it a little bit differently. I am a firm believer in having balance in your wardrobe; that is, having some high-end “splurge” items mixed together with some more affordable “save” items. Most of my outfits are a mix between the two, and I think it’s important to pick and choose when you decided to splurge or save on an item.

That said, I thought it would be a fun idea to share these items I’ve been searching for, but giving you options depending on if you want to splurge or save for that particular piece. So, without further ado, here are my fall wardrobe essentials, splurge or save edition…

over-the-knee boots: splurge | save
booties: splurge | save
oversized scarf: splurge | save
cozy cardigan: splurge | save

I have been obsessed with over-the-knee boots for a few years now, and I don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon. They add such a chic look to any outfit, and can be dressed up or down — I love them! I wear a black pair that I own all throughout the fall (and winter, too!), and it’s definitely time I pick up another pair, either grey or a tan color.

Booties are a classic fall piece, but as much as I love them, I don’t have too many pairs in my wardrobe. I have been on the hunt for a few pairs, with the two I shared today being at the top of my list. I think the reason I never bought too many pairs was because I was in school and didn’t think I’d wear them as often as I’d like, so now that I’ll be interning this fall semester, I think it’s the perfect time to stock up on a few that will last for years to come.

Oversized scarves pretty much goes without saying. The plaid blanket scarf hit Instagram feeds everywhere a few years ago, and no one has looked back since. Admittedly, I have a few too many plaid scarves in my wardrobe, so this year I’m looking for some basic shades that I can mix and match with virtually any outfit. I think these will be the perfect ones to layer on during my commute or keep at my desk for chilly days in the office.

Lastly, the cozy cardigan. I have always been a cardigan girl; layering is the name of the game for styling fall outfits, so I pretty much can’t go without these! Also, as I’ve mentioned before, I am that girl that gets hot and cold when the temperature changes by just one degree, so I love how easy these are to take on and off. Pick one up in a festive fall shade like these maroon ones, and you won’t be disappointed.

Fall Days

This weekend was the quintessential fall weekend. There was a chill in the air, I carved pumpkins, went on a haunted hayride, and admired the fall leaves that were in their peak. On Friday I wore this outfit to run some fall-themed errands. I am obsessed (like literally obsessed!) with this new necklace, so it was the first part of my outfit that I picked out. I also just got the cardigan last week, and it is my new favorite thing to top my outfits with. It is so, so soft, and the color matches just about everything in my closet — a staple for pretty much anyone’s wardrobe! One of my go-to outfit formulas for the fall is a long chiffon blouse with a sweater, and then topped with some accessories. It’s super easy to put together, and you can mix and match your items to get a different look each time.

On Friday I went to my sixth post-op appointment and was officially cleared for all normal activities — I couldn’t be more excited! I had been so disappointed that I wasn’t going to be able to go for a fall hike in the Adirondacks while the foliage was in peak, but the timing couldn’t have worked out more perfect! As soon as I got the good news I knew I would have go on a quick day trip that weekend, so that was exactly what my sister and I did.

Early Saturday morning we headed out to Old Forge, our favorite town in the Adirondacks. It’s just under two hours away, so it’s the perfect place for a day trip. We hiked up Bald Mountain, which has a beautiful view of the mountains and the Fulton Chain Lakes from the top. If you’re following me on Instagram, the view might look familiar because I hiked it when I spent a week in the Adirondacks this summer…

The colors of the trees were breathtaking, and we spent a lot of time relaxing at the top just taking it all in. Afterwards, we stopped in town for a little while before heading back home (and going to a haunted hayride later that night — one of my favorite fall activities!).

Also, a quick note about the t-shirt I’m wearing in these pictures… I wore it in an Instagram picture the other day, and you guys really loved it! Unfortunately I bought it from PINK about a year ago, and I searched high and low to find it somewhere online but couldn’t find it anywhere — I’m sorry! I would check your local PINK or Victoria’s Secret store, though, because they usually have similar ones in store.
